RELIEF AT THE PUMP

In my last post, My Gas Fundraiser, I mentioned I would provide more details explaining how helping you save money will help me raise money for a year's supply of gas as I battle high gas prices one tank at a time.    But this about more than just raising money for a year's supply of gas for me.  I'm also raising money for the American Cancer Society and have started an long-term fundraiser for Tuscaloosa, AL and Joplin, MO tornado victims.  So when you save money, you'll be helping me raise money for some great causes.

A quick recap on the programs I will be using to save you money and how saving money will help me raise money.  They are:

My Gas Fundraiser

On April 22, 2011, what I expected would happen became a reality.  Gas prices reached and exceeded $4.00 a gallon.  I sat down and calculated the number of miles I drive daily, weekly, and monthly.  Then I estimated the number of miles per gallon for my car, a very reliable Subaru Outback Wagon with 236,000+ miles.  From this I calculated the number of gallon of gas needed to get me through a week and then a month.  I estimated that at $4.00 a gallon, my monthly gas bill would be $360.00/month to $600.00/month.  That's $4,320.00 to $7,200.00 spent on work related driving.  This doesn't take into consideration weekend driving, vacations, etc.

With gas prices rising, this has led me to hold a personal fundraiser to raise money for a year's worth of gas.  But the great thing about this fundraiser is:

  • you won't have to reach into your purse or wallet to donate money,
  • it will help you save money with cash back rebates and 50% OFF or better deals on local and national deals, and
  • you might even make money through the compensation programs offered by the 4 programs when you share the programs described below with your family and friends.

The four programs being used to raise money for my gas fundraiser are:
